The Appleby Manor Country House Hotel is beautifully located in wooded grounds overlooking Appleby Castle. Here you will find a place to relax, sit back and enjoy real pleasure. Open log fires, a fine selection of wines and whiskys, together with an award winning restaurant, excellent bedrooms and superb views over the Eden Valley.
This luxury 31 bedroom country house hotel, on the edge of the Lake District National Park and close to Penrith, has been completely refurbished in the last 5 years.
The hotel benefits from an indoor leisure club with a small swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi, steam-room and solarium.

Some rooms are interconnecting. Most of the family rooms have pull out single beds but one has bunk beds. Kids stay free if sharing with parents. They are only charged for meals taken.
Appleby Manor prides itself on its fine cuisine. In recognition of this, the AA has awarded one rosette, which makes the Oak Restaurant and Conservatory one of the best dining experiences in the region. Awards for the restaurant cuisine have come from a variety of sources including the AA, RAC and Egon Ronay guides.
Good food and friendly service are the perfect recipe for a memorable meal every night. Traditional luxury, warm comfort and fine cuisine entice you to unwind whilst the hours slip by unnoticed.
Directly overlooking the beautifully manicured gardens, the restaurant has great views over Appleby castle and Eden Valley towards the peaks of the Lake District.
A fine selection of wines and whiskies offer the perfect accompaniment to the menu of traditional English cuisine with a modern twist.
After a delicious meal, you are invited to relax in the lounge with its ornate coving and ceiling rose, luxurious bespoke sofas and real log fire.
From the North:
- Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 40.
- Join the A66 towards Brough.
- Take the Appleby turn-off and turn right immediately.
- Follow road for half a mile.
From the East:
- Take the A1 (Scotch Corner).
- Join the follow A66 towards Penrith.
- Take the Appleby turn-off.
- Follow road for two-thirds of a mile.
- Take the first right.
- Take the second left.
- Follow the road for a quarter of a mile.
From the South:
- Take the M6.
- Exit at junction 38.
- Take the B6260 to Appleby.
- Drive through the town to a T-Junction; turn left.
- Take the first right.
- Follow road for two thirds of a mile.
